I just witnessed something touching...

We all know what Arcade Stations are right? It's like the Pikachu if the Casino is the Raichu. Its a step towards the ultimate evolution towards being a casino. Its where people play video games, bet and sometimes if their pride is too stepped on, things get physical. But just this thursday night, without all the gambles and verbal arguments, I went there to attempt to beat the Tekken 5 DR time attack (since i know that thursday and wednesday nights are times where at most 10 people will go to the arcade. It seemed that the difficulty level was raised and i only reached 3rd round and I played Tekken Tag. Not for time attack but for the sake of playing and trying out combos.

The challenger alert popped up: "A NEW CHALLENGER!" and i always feel competitive everytime but to my surprise things were quite easy. Every trap i made, every juggle, worked. That's something rare in games as competitive as tekken tag. I looked at the other side. What did I find? A father and his two children.

I was going easy on them but in the end, i still beat them (or else, i'll have to put another 5-peso token). But to my surprise, his kids were still having fun even if they dont put in any tokens. Just by whacking the buttons and twisting the joystick, they are already having fun. That struck me because if i ran out of tokens, I would normally get pissed and go home with a bad mood. But those kids, they were getting a kick out of playing something free. They were happy. The father was happy too. He may not afford to buy more tokens for his kids but he was able to make them happy.

It tells me that happiness is not found in the amount of money you spend. It isnt found in your skill of playing. Happiness? its found every time we interact with people. Every time we make them smile and laugh.

There's this one Egyptian belief that if you die, a jackal-headed man will weigh your heart against a feather and your life will be judged according to your answers to these two questions:

1. Have you found joy in your life?

2. Have others found joy in your life?
