kambingan sa buena oro

i have to admit i got a thing for posh restaurants. I mean there is something in them that just makes me enjoy the food i get to order. for one, the ambiance is priceless; not to mention very clean restrooms, fancy utensils, soothing music, and of course the mouthwatering presentation of the food served. hmmm, yumyum hahaha, and wait, the view of people dressing up just adds up to the appetite. hahaha

but that's not totally what this is. the title would already suggest that its not what this is really all about hahaha. you see, when i get invitations to dine, the first thing i ask is where? if the answer is right then i suit up and show up. If it's something else then i would usually come up with a lot of excuses and be content with what my kitchen can offer.

this lunch however was different. i woke up late today after a crazy night at candy's. i didn't feel like cooking anything because of the hang over so i just sat on my favorite red sofa and finished the season 2 of 'how i met your mother' hahaha. then kiko (the rising tennis superstar/ the younger brother of the legendary casey alcantara) text-ed to invite me for a victory lunch after winning his tennis tournament this morning. My first question was where? he politely replied 'kambingan sa buena oro.' where is that? what's in there? well, what the heck, i was hungry and it was free lunch so i grabbed my jacket, jumped into my motorcycle and headed for some 'goat' lunch. doesn't sound so appetizing is it? wait til i get there.

when i got there i looked for a parking area. there was none. so i just left my bike at the side of the street. from outside, it looked like a typical karenderia. when i got in, it looked more like a, uhm,. yeah, karenderia. hahaha so i said to kiko 'order for me, i'm not much into goats, so i wouldn't know what to order.'

then i sat on an old mono-block chair, facing an acetate covered wooden table! plastic covered table man!, hahaha and waited for the mysterious food to be served. i was given a plastic plate; the one with flower prints on the rim, hahaha. and then wait, you should love this, the whole 'kaldero(pot)' was placed on my table. wt*! hahaha until now i could not understand why the whole pot was served. they could just have served it in a bowl. tsk tsk tsk hahahaha

anyway, i was too hungry to mind the ambiance if it can even be called that. i dug into the kaldero, and got a respectable amount of whatever it was and placed it on my plate. then i tasted it.(*&(&^&$%%^%_(()(^(*&(*)&%%$%$$#@&^^*&%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what was that!!!!! darn! the best food i have ever tasted so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no kidding man, the best!!!!!!!!

did i just say it was the best food i have ever tasted??!! yeah boy, it is! i could not even begin how to describe it. feels like any word would fall short in encapsulating the heavenly taste of such dish. the only way for you to relate is to go there and eat. yeah, believe me, u don't want to miss that for the world man!

and as we left the place, i noticed we weren't the first to discover the heaven we just came from, posh and flashy cars were parked at the side of the street (did i mention there was no parking space in that karenderia, oh yeah i already did haha). and when i looked again i saw familiar faces i had bumped into the nights before.

Lesson learned: some great packages come with lousy wrappers. i should never forget that. hmmm hahaha

and as for kiko: Congratulations man for winning the championship game in your age category, i'm sure your kuya would agree with me when i say you can surely surpass his record. and thank you for leading me to that paradise. i'd go back there in a heartbeat. the next time we go, it would be on me.

ciao!
